Best Day Ever

This is the first “cake” post and I’m excited to share it with all of you.
On the side, I take orders to make custom cakes for basically any occasion.
My love of cake decoration started in my teenage years, I used to make cakes for all my family and friends and is now slowly growing into a side business.

I recently made this simple and elegant wedding cake for a young couple.
Initially the order was just going to be the sugar figures, but it soon changed into ordering a whole custom cake, a surprise for the lovely couple from the mother of the bride!

It was a delicious white chocolate cake, complete with white chocolate buttercream and fondant. The ‘love’ and swirls on the side of the cake are hand painted with edible silver paint and the Bride, Groom and their little dog are all sculpted from gum paste (also edible). The Bride & Groom are also dressed in miniature versions of their original wedding attire. The ‘best day ever’ sign was provided by the mother of the bride.

I love custom designing cakes, every order is different and presents a new challenge for me.

Suddenly... ink painting

Its been a very long time since I have picked up a paintbrush...
I got up one morning and had the sudden urge to paint. Not having anything particular in mind, I picked up the brush, dipped it in ink, put brush to paper and this is what became of it.

Introducing... Kaleidoscope Glasses!

Click on the quote for more about Future Eyes.

Had fun illustrating these Kaleidoscope Glasses.

Not long ago, I was contacted by Brent Pearson, the artist behind Future Eyes who presented me with the opportunity to see the world in a different light, through the fun and quirky Kaleidoscope Glasses.
I couldn’t refuse such a rad offer and here they are in all their fun filled glory.
They really are kaleidoscopic!

The beautiful reflection from the crystals of the Kaleidoscope Glasses.

Henna tattoos for me, are one of those things that I just can’t get bored of. I will happily procrastinate with henna any time.
